Design and Technology is an exciting and innovative subject. We aim to enhance students’ creativity, problem solving capabilities and practical skills through a range of design and making activities in a variety of material areas. The Technology Faculty offers programmes of study in Food, Textiles, Resistant Materials and Graphics at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

Technology at Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy is delivered in a purpose built block that has eleven specialist rooms. We are dedicated to providing the expertise and resources that enable students to meet their potential in a safe, inspiring environment.  With over 60 PC’s in the block, students have excellent ICT provision and access to new technologies including a laser cutting machine, sublimation printers and CAD/CAM milling machinery. Our curriculum is fully inclusive allowing all students, irrespective of their ability, to be successful.

Progress at Key Stage 3 is good with 98% of students achieving Level 5+ in 2014 and 67% achieving Level 6+. At Key Stage 4 100% of students gained A* - G grades at GCSE, with 58% achieving A* - C grades. At Key Stage 5 students achieve well against their target grades.
